Atlas operates two sister ships in Antarctica for the 2026 to 2027 season: World Navigator and World Traveller. While World Voyager, the third ship in the fleet, is equipped to travel to polar regions, it’s under full charter this season. All three vessels were built at the WestSEA shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, with very similar specifications. They’re all 423 feet in length, Polar Class 6 ice-strengthened hulls and a maximum capacity of 198 guests and about 117 crew.
All of the ships are fitted with a dedicated Mud Room, expedition platform, a full Zodiac fleet for landings, sea kayaks and the art deco Atlas Lounge and the Dome observation lounge forward on Deck 7.
Conveniently all-inclusive, just about everything you need for an incredible Antarctica expedition experience is included in the price. Every fare covers all meals at all dining venues with open seating; no specialty restaurant surcharges here. You’ll also receive unlimited wine, cocktails, spirits, craft beers and specialty coffees at all bars throughout the day and evening, plus in room Nespresso and Kusmi tea, a stocked mini fridge and 24 hour room service,
Rooms come equipped with L'Occitane bath amenities, binoculars for the voyage, Egyptian cotton linens, and Starlink Wifi access. You also don’t need to worry about tips as gratuities are also included as well as Emergency Medical Evacuation insurance.
As an added touch, a pre-cruise hotel night in Buenos Aires and a private roundtrip charter flight between Buenos Aires and Ushuaia are also part of the fare. Yes! Every Atlas Antarctica departure runs with a team of 21 expedition experts on board, covering everything from marine life and ornithology to geology and climate science. These are specialist naturalists and scientists whose roles go well beyond simply accompanying guests on landings. The team runs morning briefings, leads every shore excursion and Zodiac outing, presents evening recaps in the Vasco da Gama Auditorium and brings genuine depth of knowledge to every wildlife encounter and landscape feature the ship approaches. In line with IAATO regulations, the team organises up to four simultaneous landing groups of 50 guests, ensuring that everyone spends meaningful time ashore rather than waiting on board for their turn.
The Drake Passage is the notorious stretch of open ocean between Cape Horn and the South Shetland Islands, which is approximately 800 kilometres wide and can be unpredictable at times. On a standard Atlas departure, the ship sails both ways through the Drake, which takes approximately two days each way and is very much part of the full Southern Ocean experience. Fly the Drake is the alternative: a charter flight from Punta Arenas in Chile directly to King George Island at the edge of the Antarctic Peninsula, eliminating the crossing.
